Grenache Under My Skin

There are 2 areas in the Mediterranean renowned for Grenache: Châteauneuf and Maury.

Grape varieties

80% Grenache / 20% Syrah

Origin

France / Roussillon / Entre Maury & Saint-Paul De Fenouillet

Nuance, aroma & taste

Almost like purple ink.

Fine, seducer, almost like a cream of dark fruits, with a slight milky and spicy touch.

Fine, slender (thanks to the magic of the schist ground), will round off and gain in amplitude and density, a beautiful balance.

The final taste is chewy and intense, very marked by dark fruits and even more so by spices.

Pairing

Mixed grills, piquillos, leg of lamb, cheese of course…

Recommendations

Serve at 15°C
Aging potential: At least 10 years.

Vieille Mule Blanc

Easily labelled, because the emblem for the Catalans is the mule, and old because the vines are old, but quite simply because the mule has bit a good look to it!

50% Macabeu / 30% Grenache Blanc / 20% Grenache Gris

Origin

France / Roussillon / Vallée de l’Agly

Nuance, aroma & taste

Pale yellow with aniseed reflections.

Smells of the orchard (white peaches, yellow peaches and vine peaches).

Like biting into extra ripe grapes. A slight pearly effect which gives a light and airy side to the wine (although airy is perhaps pushing it a bit).

For aperitifs or fruit desserts...

Morillon Blanc Magnum

This wine is made with botrytised grapes (or « noble rot »). Vinified dry «Morillon Blanc» is the original name for Chardonnay. The older the grapes, the stronger the expression of roasted botrytis grapes combined with a more concentrated colour.

Nuance, aroma & taste

Straw yellow.

Ripe and expressive, notes of pears, peaches and pineapples, with hints of roasted butter.

Well-rounded and rich, with a ripe, dense, almost fatty matter, and an acidity which balances and refreshes the whole.

Clear, finely astringent, with the ever present mature fruit, but also toasted bread, a touch of butter and a hint of vanilla.

Pairing

Cured ham and balls of melon, foie gras mi-cuit, guinea fowl with mushrooms, matured cheeses, apple tart…

The liquid version of the fresh and crunchy muscat grapes, the faithful companion of your favourite cheeses at the end of a meal.

95% Muscat d’Alexandrie / 5% Muscat petits grains

Nuance, aroma & taste

Golden and brilliant.

Abundant and a great intensity of rose, orange confit, roasted peaches and notes of Muscat.

Liqueur-like, avoiding the rich side like most Muscats, a white wine slightly sweet but sufficiently dosed, the acidity is well balanced thanks to a nice freshness, one can almost imagine biting into a ripe grape.

Pairing

Perfect for « aperitifs » without upsetting the palate, with a tajine or a fruit tart, but with some Cantal it’s the tops!

Nuance, aroma & taste

Pale gold.

Very expressive, notes of roasted almonds-hazelnuts, confited citrus fruit and a good dose of vanilled butter and toasted bread.

Round, rich, with a soft and envelopping substance, as a whole well balanced with a sparse freshness, the end taste is very intense and is marked by notes of wood (buttered/toasty/smoked/vanilla) upheld by a slight bitterness and spices.

Perfect for aperitifs and/or tapas...
